17-19 May 2020
Europe/Berlin timezone

On the beautiful land of Spreewald you will get to know your colleagues and meet external speakers well known in their fields... Scientific discussions will be mixed with fun activities!

Take the chance to visit a charming place outside of Dresden and share three vibrant days with your peers.

Register until April 3rd to join us on a short-trip to the beautiful Spreewald area south of Berlin (https://www.spreewald.de/en/) from May 17th to May 19th, 2020. We will be staying in double-sharing rooms at the Landhotel Burg (https://www.landhotel-burg.de/de/). Check it out, it looks really cozy!

The registration fee is 35 Euro, to be payed to either the DIGS-BB or IMPRS office.

We encourage you to apply for a talk. Consider it an opportunity to get feedback on your project from peers and internationally renowned experts, all in a friendly and pressure-free environment. Remember the goal is not to shame, but to share visions and ideas! The deadline for abstract-submission for talks is on March 27th!

Don't forget to submit an abstract even if you do not apply for a talk.Your abstract will appear in our retreat booklet and is supposed to give participants and external speakers a good overview about what people in Dresden are working on. The deadline for abstract-submission for booklet is on April 24th!

This year we are introducing a new format, so-called collaborative talk... Are you working in collaboration with another PhD student on the campus or are you part of the same project? Great! Then this option is for you! It includes two (or more) presenters who cover their part of the shared project. You are completely free in how you design your shared talk. The goal of this format is to tell stories about synergy and how different fields of research complement each other.

If you want to apply for a collaborative talk, all collaborative partners need to register, apply for collaborative talk, indicate the name of their partner, and submit an abstract covering their own part of the project. The deadline for abstract submission for collaborative talks is on March 27th!

On top of the scientific program, we encourage you to take part into one of the different group activities. This year you can choose among paddle-boating, cycling, hiking and minigolf. Don't forget to set your preferences when doing your registration!

We look very much forward to see you in May!
